Is Your Employer Stealing Your Wages? A Checklist of Common Wage and Hour Violations.

If you suspect your employer is shortchanging you, use this simple checklist: 

  • Unpaid overtime. Are you working more than 40 hours per week without receiving time-and-a-half pay? Many employers misclassify employees or fail to track all hours worked.
  • Missed meals and rest breaks. Are you regularly required to work through your breaks or clock out while still performing job duties? Florida law and federal standards protect your right to uninterrupted meal periods in many cases.
  • Off-the-clock work. Do you perform tasks before or after your shift, or work from home without compensation? This includes prepping equipment, closing out registers, or answering emails after hours.
